Camps this (Scouting) year

13 October 2013

I am pleased to confirm that there are several more camps planned for this year, the idea is to allow you plenty of notice so you can decide the types of experience your son/daughter wants to take part in.

Beaver Scout Sleepover: March 2014
This is an annual event for older Beaver Scouts, date, cost and venue to be confirmed but it is normally around the £15 mark

CircusMarra: 23rd May – 26th May 2014 Causey Park Farm
This a a 3 night camp over the May Bank Holiday organised by the County. It’s a camp full of activities from Abseiling to Zorbing.
Open to Cubs and Scouts, cost is £75 including food and all activities.
If you are interested in attending, please email

Group Camp: 27th – 29th June 2014. Smalldene, Longframlington
This is our annual Group camp. Cubs and Scouts will be under canvas. Beaver Scouts will attend on the Saturday. Cost is normally around £45.

Red Rose 13: 26th July – 2nd August, Westmorland Show Ground, Cumbria
It’s been a long time since the 4th did a week long Scout camp but we’re going to see if we can start them again with this camp. The event is open to Scouts and those who will be Scouts by August. We’re also opening it to Young Leader and Explorers who have just left the 4th. The cost is quite large – the event itself costs £150 for participants including all activities, camping, sub camp polo shirt, necker and badge. We will also need to cover transport and food costs. With this camp the plan is to form a “Unit” of people wanting to attend who will work together during the year to fundraise as much as possible to offset the cost – this means an additional commitment but a full week of adventurous Scouting activities is well worth the effort! If you are interested in attending please email

Scout Patrol Camp: September 2014 (exact date, venue and cost to be confirmed but normally around the £25 mark)
A traditional camp for Scouts only; sleeping in tents, working in Patrols and cooking on wood fires

In the case of all camps we try and provide affordable adventure with an eye to keeping the costs down as much as possible. The Group Executive have agreed to release some funds to help in this regard. Scout Association policy is to provide at least one opportunity to camp per year and that no Beaver Cub or Scout should miss out on a camp purely for financial reasons. There are various funds at District and County level to assist in this regard. If you would like more details please see your Leader or contact me directly.
